FC_SAT.BQ #437 (2014-2018)

The FoodCultura Satélite Boquería space (FC_SAT.BQ #437) was located, for a little over three years, at stop #437 of the oldest market in Europe: Mercat de Sant Josep, La Boquería, in Barcelona
FoodCultura transformed the stand into an interactive art center (2015-2018) in which numerous artistic projects related to food were exhibited. Many of the exhibits and performances were the result of in situ investigations that explored the relationships of art with food with the idea of connecting La Boqueria with other cultural centers and artistic events (MACBA, ACVIC, Massana, EINA, Loop, La Place, and others). Art was placed in a food market and a food market was placed in art, all under the vigil of Sant Stomak who would receive in its belly the prayers and offerings of curious visitors and customers as one more aspect of the market’s life.
Its location in a neighborhood like El Raval, which welcomes so many diverse cultures, offered a great cultural, gastronomic and social richness. Topics always present in the FoodCultura debate: from tradition and memory to the reality of the diaspora, new habits, products, customs …
